This graph shows that more than 1 million international students are at US universities and more than a third of them are from China, spurring concerns that the coronavirus could have an economic impact on the US higher education system if travel restrictions remain in place. The coronavirus has been confirmed in 108,000 cases and caused over 4000 deaths worldwide, a number that increases fast due to lack of testing, particularly in the United States. The US government's imposition of travel restrictions concluded that more than 830 international students from China were in their home country when the virus outbreak happened and have not been able to come or return to the United States. Uncertainty over the effect the coronavirus not only affect individual students' academic careers but also American universities are facing an even bigger question: How long will the coronavirus crisis last? As the growing COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak engenders growing international travel restrictions and triggers economic uncertainty across the globe, the enrollment of international students at universities may significant declines shortly. Many international students are concerned with this pandemic situation since they have no choice but are enforced to stay in their house until the virus is gone.
