I am trying to make a list of "stressors" peculiarly suffered by international students -- or ways that they protect themselves, such as by "protective segregation"
List of Stressors that I am planning on putting to my final paper:
→ language barriers and lack of self-confidence: cause many international students not to show up their identities but to stay under their safe circumstances that they are confident with.
Example of what Ma mentioned about the segregation between the international students.
Talking about the stereotypes that domestic students are holding toward international students.

→ International students or their parents in relation to anxiety by ambition
"Enmeshed autonomy" from Zaloom's book Indebted:  kids whose parents take on debt for their college educations are more tied to the parents and take longer to achieve full autonomy-- cultural differences between America and China.
Parents also have their "American dreams!"

→ Anxiety and depression conflicts that may emerges from global reasons like COVID-19: Relating COVID-19  to Dana Becker's book, One Nation under Stress?, where she mentions that stress problem is transformed from being an external challenge to something internal. Stress factors are not longer about the socioeconomic problems but something individuals have to handle on their own.
what would happen to international students?
    Quarantine time
Additional Resources that I am Exploring for the Counter-Argument of my Research
Why are the reasons that Chinese international students are coming to America to study abroad?
1. Chinese students are very ambitious about their degrees.
Many Chinese students are less satisfied with their live. Therefore, this high level of dissatisfaction sometimes becomes a major factors that drives many privileged families to leave China.

2. They want more well-rounded education
Chinese students have a strong feeling of disappointment about their education system where they explain as “stifles creativity” and “entails hellish hours of studying.” They believe that studying abroad to America is chance to go to good college without extreme studying and obtain professional job
Chinese parents also want to provide alternative for their children such as more well-rounded education experiences that are unbridled by test scores.

3. Studying abroad can offer a second chance
Gaokao is a well-known college entrance examination to Chinese students where they feel the most pressure during teenagers because it only takes place only once a year. Since these scores alone determine whether and where student go to college and what they study, many Chinese international students want to study abroad to America where they think U.S. colleges provide more possibilities besides the numbers.
